Who hires us, and for what
For businesses and building owners, we do office and retail fit-outs, tenant improvements and restaurant renovations. We also take on capital work in multi-family buildings and public-sector projects, including work won through public tender. The commercial construction page covers permits, delivery options and code rules.
Homeowners and landlords hire us for home renovations, basement development, legal basement suites, kitchens, bathrooms, additions and garages, roofing, siding and exteriors and concrete and asphalt.
Want to spread the cost of a home project? Through iFinance Canada you can borrow up to $50,000 over as long as 48 months, at rates from 0% to 9.99% on approved credit. Meadow isn't the lender; the renovation financing page has the details and an estimator.
Building a self-contained unit so a senior, or an adult eligible for the disability tax credit, can live with a qualifying relative? The refundable Multigenerational Home Renovation Tax Credit may apply. For a renovation finished in 2026, it is calculated at 14%, the lowest federal rate for 2026, on up to $50,000 of eligible expenses.
Not every house is worth fixing before a sale. If yours needs more work than you want to take on, we also buy houses for cash.
Why one general contractor?
You sign one contract for the whole job. Meadow holds it and runs the permits, the trades, the materials, site safety and the inspections, from the first walkthrough to handover.
Most work is quoted at a fixed price. The quote lists what's included, what isn't and how changes are priced, so you know the number before work starts and can compare it line by line with any other. While the scope stays the same, the risk of the job running over is ours.
No drawings yet? We bring in the architect or engineer and coordinate the design with your budget. If you already have a design team, we build from their drawings.
Running a business in the building? In offices, shops, restaurants and rental buildings we plan the phasing, dust control, noise, working hours and exits at the walkthrough, so the space can keep operating where the work allows.
We apply for the building and development permits, certified electricians and plumbers take out the trade permits, and we book every inspection. Alberta requires certified tradespeople for that work (Alberta's compulsory certification trades).
We're licensed and insured in Alberta, with WCB Alberta coverage. If a defect in our workmanship shows up within a year of handover, we come back and fix it.
How each step works
Call, text or send the form with the address, what you want built and when you need it. We'll book the walkthrough at a time that suits you; the office is open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
At the walkthrough we measure and check what the job depends on: the structure, the electrical service, the plumbing and, in a commercial space, how the building has to keep running while we work.
You get a written quote with the scope and one fixed price within 48 hours of the visit. Nothing starts until you've signed it.
We apply for the permits with the City of Edmonton or the office that covers your address, book the trades in order and order the materials. If a trade runs late, sorting it out is our job.
During the build we run the site, tell you as each stage wraps up and book every inspection the permits call for. A job is finished when it passes every required inspection, and your 1-year workmanship warranty starts at handover.
Where do you work?
We take residential work in Edmonton, St. Albert, Sherwood Park, Spruce Grove, Leduc, Beaumont and Fort Saskatchewan, and commercial work across the Edmonton region. Our office is at 22529 99A Ave NW in west Edmonton.
Each community has its own permit office. Sherwood Park permits go through Strathcona County (Strathcona County residential permits), Edmonton permits through the City of Edmonton, and we apply to whichever office covers your address.

Hiring a general contractor in Edmonton?
What do most general contractors charge?
Meadow charges one fixed price, in writing, after we've seen the site, and the quote is free. It covers labour, materials, subtrades, permits, insurance and overhead. Every item in the scope is listed, so you can compare our number line by line with any other quote you get. If the scope changes, we price the change in writing before that work goes ahead.
Do you run the whole job?
Yes. We pull the permits, book the inspections and run every trade on site, electricians, plumbers and drywallers included, so you deal with one company and one fixed price. If a trade runs late, sorting it out is our job, not yours.
What's the difference between a general contractor and a construction company?
In Meadow's case, none. Meadow Contracting is a construction company that works as your general contractor: you sign one contract with us, and we take care of the permits and every trade on site. One contract covers the price, the permits and the trades. We've been building since 2021 for businesses, public owners and homeowners.
Do you take on commercial work in occupied buildings?
Yes. Offices, shops, restaurants and rental buildings often have to keep running while we build, so Meadow plans the phasing at the walkthrough: which areas close and when, dust walls and floor protection, working hours, deliveries and clear exits. The plan goes into the quote, so everyone knows the schedule before work starts.
Do you bid on public-sector projects?
Yes. Public-sector work is part of Meadow's commercial practice, including facility renovations won through public tender. We price to the tender documents and run the job like any other commercial project, with permits and inspections handled, a written schedule, and our Alberta insurance and WCB Alberta coverage in place. Our public-sector construction page covers how we work on tendered jobs.
Do you handle permits in Edmonton and the surrounding towns?
Yes. Meadow arranges every permit the job needs with the City of Edmonton or the office that covers your address, our certified trades take out the electrical and plumbing permits, and we book every inspection. Finishing a basement bedroom or adding a window needs a City permit (City of Edmonton renovation permits).
Can I finance a home renovation?
Yes. Meadow offers renovation financing through iFinance Canada: on approved credit, homeowners can borrow up to $50,000 over as long as 48 months, at rates from 0% to 9.99%. Meadow isn't the lender, and the application goes to iFinance. Our financing page has an estimator you can use before you apply.
What does your warranty cover?
Meadow's workmanship carries a 1-year warranty from handover. If a defect in our work shows up in that year, we come back and fix it. Warranties on the products themselves, such as fixtures, shingles and appliances, come from their manufacturers and are separate from ours.
How do I choose a general contractor in Edmonton?
Pick one who sees the job before pricing it and puts the scope, the price and the payment schedule in writing, the way Meadow does. We pull the permits, and we're licensed and insured in Alberta with WCB Alberta coverage. Our workmanship carries a 1-year warranty from handover. You can ask WCB-Alberta for a clearance letter on us before you sign (WCB-Alberta clearance letters).
